Glan Clwyd Hospital (Ysbyty Glan Clwyd) is the district general hospital for the central area of North Wales.  It was built in 1980 and it is situated in rural surroundings at Bodelwyddan, a small community that lies 4 miles south of Rhyl.  The hospital serves a population of approximately 195,000.  The acute hospital service has a total of 684 beds, with a full range of specialties.

Glan Clwyd Hospital is run by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people across the six counties of North Wales as well as some parts of mid Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.
