Lincoln County hospital serves the city of Lincoln and the North Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service. Founded over two hundred years ago, the majority of the hospital has been rebuilt over the past twenty years. The most recent major developments include three new wards built to the highest possible specification, all completed during 2010. They are also currently developing a new heart centre for the county at Lincoln County Hospital, with two new cardiac catheter laboratories and a short-stay unit.
